They don’t make any special lights and sounds at entry and FastPass+ touch points beyond the standard green lights and sound. Open Edition graphic MagicBands cost $19.95 starting in 2014, but in 2016 the price was raised to $22.95. The packaging for these bands has an A pricing sticker to indicate that they are Open Edition pricing.

Chip ‘n’ Dale
Disney Parks Blog gave a sneak peek video at some of the upcoming merchandise for 2016 on December 9th, 2015, and included was a special bit this MagicBand featuring Chip ‘n’ Dale on a yellow base. Steven Miller on the Disney Parks Blog also said that Disney will “continue releasing retail MagicBands” for 2016. Villains
This Villains MagicBand was released on October 9th, 2015. It’s one of the first graphic MagicBands on a purple base color. The design includes Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, and The Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
This band has a new IC number on the back of it which has never been on a MagicBand previously, which most likely stands for Industry Canada certification (similar to the United States having FCC certification). This is also one of the first bands to be a new thinner design compared to previous MagicBands, make it lighter and more flexible. Disney’s merchandise SKU barcode for this MagicBand is 400000046013.
Disney Junior – Doc

As I predicted back on April 11th, new Signature MagicBands were released in Walt Disney World. A few were put out early in Downtown Disney on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015. Both the Mickey and Minnie bands were officially released on Friday, April 24th, 2015 throughout the resort. Goofy and Pluto came out on May 5th in the Magic Kingdom at the Emporium. Donald Duck was released in The Dark Room at Hollywood Studios on May 16th, 2015.
The Mickey and Minnie MagicBands were the first ever graphic MagicBands to be sold on DisneyStore.com. They were released for sale on the website on June 30, 2015.

Around June and July of 2015, DisneyStore.com released updated versions of the Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, and Goofy Signature MagicBands with an autograph that matches what they sign in the theme parks. This change was made after a number of internal Cast Members at Walt Disney World complained about the mismatch between what is on the band and what the character signs. Hello I don’t have the box anymore but I got it at the Swan and dolphin it said limited release on the box and on the display all cast members said that it was limited release and they looked it up on their computer it also said limited release.

I’m staying at wdw in May and are due to get my magic bands in the mail soon if I purchase one of the magic bands in the park how do I switch it my original band to the new one I purchase?
You don’t “switch it over”. Both bands will connect to your account and both are usable. You can add as many MagicBands as you wish actually. Just tell the Cast Member you are buying from to link it to your ticket and they will do it for you on the spot.
Is it true you have to link your Magic Band to your ticket at the time you buy it in the park? My mother in law lives there & I would like her to purchase the Flower & Garden band for my daughter before we get there.
No, you can buy it as “link it later” so you can give it to someone else. Just make sure she tells the CM that at purchase and you will be good to go.

Just a regular solid color one. From what I understand, it’s only in gray if you pick it up at the resort. If you get them shipped to your house you can choose the color.
You can pre-order them and get solid coloured ones at your resort- international guests don’t get their bands shipped to them, but still get to customise their bands 🙂
Are these bands something that are sold in the parks to replace to single colored bands? If purchased will all ticket and room key information be transferred? How does that work?
Yes, they can be used instead of your solid color bands. You make the purchase and at the counter have the Cast Member link them to your Disney account/ticket for you. You can then use the new band at any time just like your old band. You can have as many bands attached to your account as you wish and interchange them, even using the old solid color band as well. I hope that makes sense.

Can you typically get any of the MagicBands for sale at any of the locations, or do they vary by where you buy them? In other words, if I go to Downtown Disney will I miss possibly miss out on something being sold exclusively in MK, AK, etc? Trying to plan ahead before vacation. Thanks!
Most are available in all place, but some are harder to find than others. It’s really hit and miss.
First thanks for all the great info regarding everything MagicBand related , second I was wondering if it is possible to order MagicBands by calling WDW Merchchandise Services and then linking them to our upcoming reservation before we get to Orlando in December so that everything ( FP+, room key , etc.) is good to go when we get there . You can get a Snow White MagicBand at the MagicBand On Demand station in the Magic Kingdom. That is the only way currently to get one.

You can only get your name on a MagicBand three ways:
– You are an Annual Passholder and you customize and order your free bands through the My Disney Experience website.
– You are staying at a Disney-owned resort during your vacation. You’ll be able to get your bands customized with your name on the back via the My Disney Experience website.
– You go to one of the MagicBand On Demand stations at Walt Disney World. You’ll need to order an entirely new band at the kiosk and add your name to the band at that time. They cannot use any existing band you may have in your possession to add your name.
Those are your only options. Any bands your order from DisneyStore.com or through the Shop Disney Parks app (or through eBay or some other third party reseller) will not be customizable at all. Thanks for visiting the website!
Hi! I’m a little confused, I’m travelling to FL in April and looking at getting a couple of MagicBands (we’re staying off-property). When you say they make no lights or sounds, does that mean “special sounds” or they make none at all? It seems weird for them to not give some sort of visual or audio feedback when you use a touchpoint. Is that what you mean by no light/sound? If so, I guess I’ll have to buy one of the boring solid colour ones :(. I was hoping to get the Cinderella Castle or Haunted Mansion and Animal Kingdom Mickey. I haven’t used magicbands before so forgive my ignorance!
I mean “special sounds”. There are standard sounds and lights that play for Solid Colors, Open Edition, and Limited Release. Only Limited Edition bands make the special sounds and lights.

Nope, sorry, just the standard sound. Only Limited Edition bands makes special sounds.
What ever happened to the tigger Magic bands it was on the shop parks app but hasn’t been there in over a month. Didn’t see any onsite in February either. Thanks

I am sorry if you are repeating yourself but I am going to disney in 2 weeks and I believe I am overdue to purchase my magic bands. Its my first Disney trip and honestly I have no idea what I am doing. Where can I purchase the open editions. I love the new Alice in Wonderland one. There are so many fabulous ones to choose from but I haven’t seen where they offer all of them from. Would you please point me in the right direction.

Ethan: Thank you so very much!! for keeping us posted on all the new bands. We are going to MNSSHP & WFF this year (Oct-Nov). I wanted a Minnie band with fall colors (I have a fantastic Christmas band which wasn’t quite the right for fall fun). Like magic you posted the Minnie Paisley Graphic MagicBand!! Perfect!!! Also, I would have never figured out it was only on the app if you wouldn’t had added that great info. Mine is on it’s way 🙂
