Two MagicBands with new features coming for 2017 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

The Disney Parks Blog today revealed that two new MagicBands coming to the 2017 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, both with new attributes never before seen with MagicBands.

The first one is the standard Limited Edition band that Disney has come out with every year since 2013, each year having a new design. This year they’ve upped the amount of bands produced back to 4000, most likely because the MagicBand box will smell like chocolate and the band itself will glow in the dark, which will really make these a desired item for 2017. They may also make special effect lights and sounds at touch points. They will be available at the first hard-ticket event party on August 25th, 2017, and the price has increased to $39.99 (up from $32.99 for Limited Editions usually) most likely due to the special extras this band has.

The second band announced today that will be available at the party is a new Limited Release Sanderson Sisters MagicBand. This is the second Sanderson Sisters Limited Release band made for the party (the first one was back in 2015, see here). This will cost $27.99 and will also be available on August 25th, 2017.

  1. Oh man, 3 LE’s so far coming out within a week of each other. This one, the Food and Wine, and Epcot band. Gonna be a costly start to the fall season. 😉 Can’t wait to get them though! Thanks for keeping us in the know and ready Ethan.

  2. Is there any way to know who the artist/designer is for bands? I adore the Sanderson band, because they are awesome, but it also looks so similar to a fabric line I have loved for years. Wondering if it’s possibly the same designer…

    • Could be. I know Derrick Lirette does a number of the designs, as well as a small team of other people. I am not sure if he was directly involved with this specific band though.

    • I wondered the same thing, Shannon! Looks a lot like the Ghastlies by Alexander Henry!! As a sewist, I’m almost tempted to get it. Too bad I despise the Hocus Pocus movie! 😀

  3. Thanks for the info on LE H’ween Magic Bands. Will they be available online at Disney Store as of Aug 25 or only available at WDW park?

  4. Just an FYI. I purchased this band last night, and when i got to my room i opened the box and the magicband design was cracking. I took it back this morning for an exchange and he had to look through about 6 before he found one that didnt have the same damage. Make sure to check your band before purchasing! And a mint one may be hard to come by.
