The first MagicBand On Demand system, which allows guests to mix and match designs and band colors to create personalized MagicBands, was set up in the Magic Kingdom at the Tomorrowland Power & Light Co., a gift shop near Space Mountain. It opened on October 23rd, 2015. The second station was opened on December 1st, 2015 inside of Hollywood Studios at the Star Wars Launch Bay. A third station was opened in Disney Springs at the Marketplace Co-Op on December 22nd, 2015. A forth station opened at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Walt Disney World on February 23rd, 2017.
A special high intensity UltraViolet (UV) light printer is used to instantly dry (a.k.a. cure) the UV ink on the MagicBand. Guests are able to see the printer create their personalized bands right in front of them, which is a neat experience. If guests want their name on the bands they can add it, but it will take the place of the graphics on the hole side of the band unfortunately.
The UV printer is not able to print any graphics near the Mickey head design on the top of the band at this time, whereas graphic bands you buy on the store shelves do have elements printed all over the entire band. This is evidence that the printing and production techniques for creating graphic MagicBands must be different between On Demand and On Shelf bands.
Here is how Disney describes MagicBands and their printing areas:
– Zone 1 is the side with the holes
– Zone 2 is the top
– Zone 3 is the side without holes
MagicBand On Demand doesn’t print on Zone 2, only Zone 1 and 3.
MagicBands are currently in the original style, with MagicBand 2 On Demand being rolled out sometime in 2017.
Most Disney designs are found at the Magic Kingdom and Disney Springs stations. Most Star Wars designs are at the Hollywood Studios station. Sports designs can be found at the ESPN station.

These bands specifically say “Limited Release” next to them at the kiosks
